Porters
Porters in Nepal, Peru and other parts of the world often fall victim to exploitation. They carry huge loads for days on end over rugged ground and high altitude, often wearing inappropriate clothing for the terrain and weather conditions they encounter. As a result of their hard work trekkers can enjoy some of the most amazing mountainous regions in the world. Tourism Concern, the Inka Porter Project and Porters Progress are working hard to stop the exploitation of porters, help improve their quality of life and to empower them and their communities.
