Lisa Young is a London-based freelance photographer and travel writer. She produces photos and articles about her escapades, which have taken her to over 50 countries.
Her most recent trips include; joining the Land Rover G4 Challenge team on an extreme driving recce across Outer Mongolia; becoming a station hand/jillaroo on Bullo River Cattle station in Australia’s remote outback; appearing in a video for Tourism Australia about mustering in the Northern Territory; discovering the revolution trail in Cuba; skiing in the Arctic Circle; horse safaris in Kenya; riding a Harley-Davidson through Australia's outback and learning to drive an elephant in Northern Thailand.
In the eighties Lisa lived in New York City, where she worked as a studio manager & first assistant on photo shoots of celebrities and politicians, including Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan for Time magazine.
Since then, her own work has appeared in a variety of publications worldwide, including The Times, the Sunday Telegraph, Scotland on Sunday, The Week, Sunday Times Travel magazine and Harpers Bazaar. Clients have included Warner Brothers, Orient Express and the GSM Association (GSM20 Mobile World documentary and book project). Lisa has photographed and written about a number of subjects, from cultural tribes and development projects to adventure & luxury travel.
Photographic projects include the London Eye, the Cheetah Conservation Fund and aid development projects in Nepal, Peru and Africa. Lisa is currently working on a TV documentary project with Olivier Houalet (Cheetah Whisperer), who was recently featured on the BBC2 documentary 'Tropic of Capricorn'.
Film & TV: Lisa's photos have appeared in film and television stage sets, including Warner Brothers show ER, episode ‘Lights Out’ in May 2007 and CBS drama series ‘Without a Trace’ in August 2007. In January 2009 a selection of Lisa's photos will appear on screen in the Columbia Pictures & Adam Sandler production Mall Cop.
Lisa is a founding member of travel website www.i-escape.com. From 2000 to 2003 she spent her time travelling the world photographing and collecting information for the launch of the site. She has photographed and written about many of their featured hotels.
